BEIJING, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) -- China's input in 5G network construction will remain high in 2021, and the construction will extend to counties and townships as well as key public areas such as roads and railways, reported Shanghai Securities News Thursday.
China's major mobile operators are preparing materials for the high-quality construction of 5G networks next year.
The Tibet branch of China Mobile on December 8 issued the bidding for the annual centralized procurement of C-RAN passive wavelength division equipment for 5G base stations in 2020-2022, and on the same day, China Unicom also released a recruitment announcement on public procurement of 5G-related equipment.
China Mobile has now built the world's largest 5G SA (Standalone) network, and will increase input in 5G network in the next step to make it cover cities, counties and some key towns throughout the country, said Yang Jie, chairman of China Mobile.
According to Wang Xiaochu, chairman of China Unicom, the company will make sure the completion of the large-scale deployment of 5G networks in about three years, so as to basically realize regional 5G network coverage in major urban areas, highways, railways, key counties and large towns.
Efforts should be made to build high-quality 5G network meeting the needs of different scenarios, said Liu Liehong, vice minister of industry and information technology, at the World 5G Convention held recently in Guangzhou, capital city of south China's Guangdong Province.
According to him, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology is working with related operators to formulate the base station construction plans for 2021.
