BEIJING, Nov.12 (Xinhua) – Beijing's consumer price index (CPI), a main gauge of inflation, rised 0.9 percent year on year in October, dropping 0.1 percentage point from September's increase, according to National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Wednesday.
On a monthly basis, food price dropped 0.9 percent in October. In a breakdown, pork price went down 7.5 percent over last month, and the decline expanded 5.2 percentage points from a month earlier, as pork supply was further restored, the NBS said.
Non-food prices surged 0.6 percent on a monthly basis in October, of which travel agency fees, hotel accommodation and air ticket prices all increased by 13.1 percent 1.8 percent and 1.2 percent respectively due to the tourism boom of China's public holidays.
Meanwhile, Beijing's pork price edged down 3.6 percent on a yearly basis in October following 19 consecutive months of rise, while the rise in non-food prices stood at 0.4 percent year on year in October.
