MILAN, Oct. 29 (Class Editori) - The subsidiary Vard, leader in the construction of specialized vessels, has signed an agreement for the design and construction of a further cutting-edge fishing vessel for the Russian company, which is active in the deep-water fishing and works off Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, city of the Russian Far East, in the Far Eastern Russian Economic Fishing Zone and in the Western Bering Sea. Already in 2019, Fincantieri had received a first order from Luntos.

The vessel will be built in the Vietnamese shipyard of Vung Tau. The delivery is scheduled in the third quarter of 2022. The vessel will be 87 meters long and 18 meters wide. The project has been adjusted to meet the specific needs of the customer and offers a range of innovations in order to grant productivity, sustainability and an excellent operation efficiency, by ensuring high performances in the most challenging environmental conditions, as well as a safe, comfortable and modern working and living space for the crew members.

Already in 2019, Fincantieri had received a first order from Luntos for another fishing unit to deliver in the second quarter of 2021, 80.4 metres long and 16.7 metres wide.

Particularly attention to the plants, which will allow to load, refrigerate and freeze fish. The freezing capacity will be of 210 tons for 24 hours in order to safeguard the fish product quality. In addition, the ship has been equipped by a power plant of fish flour, which will allow to use processing remainders, with a movement capacity of raw materials by 50 tonnes for 24 hours.

By working in close cooperation with Luntos, Vard has focused on the most recent technology incorporation in order to ensure that the fish may be landed with minimal environmental impact. The ships' hull has been designed to obtain highest efficiency both during the fish and in transit.
