InfoQuest (October 10, 2020) - Energy Policy and Planning Office (EPPO) director Watthanaphong Khurowat announced that the average price of spot LNG current week increased 0.137 U.S dollar/mmBTU to 4.837 U.S dollar/mmBTU and demand for LNG was also rising.
KOGAS and CPC Corporation, Taiwan (CPC) have scheduled vessels to deliver spot LNG in October and November for power generation and advance preparation respectively as winter is coming. Cameron LNG in the United States and Gorgon LNG in Australia have both halted their production and export, resulting in a declined market supply.
In August 2020, the price of natural gas was 202.7124 baht/mmBTU, down 5.2882 baht/ mmBTU from July; the average price of spot LNG valued 3.7298 U.S dollar/mmBTU upon a rise of 1.3508 U.S dollar/mmBTU compared to previous month. But the price of oil, hard baht and rising exchange rate still brought forth a plunge of LNG price.
The news release also mentioned the current price of automobile natural gas (NGV). In a gas filling station 50km away from primary filling station, the price of natural gas for private vehicles and public vehicles was 14.17 baht/kg and 13.62 baht/kg (excluding 18.17 baht/kg management tax of each changwat) respectively.
As of August 31, 2020, 511 automobile CNG filling stations haven been arranged, with a daily sales volume amounting 3,991t automobile CNG (165.31MMcf), and now 431 automobile CNG filling stations keep operating.
