BEIJING, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- Southwest China's Chongqing municipality has recently introduced a total of 100 measures in 11 key areas such as starting a business, handling construction permits, obtaining electricity, cross-border trade, in an effort to improve its business environment, according to the local newspaper on Tuesday.
The municipality will optimize the network platform for starting a business, strengthen data sharing and business collaboration between government departments, and integrate enterprise start-up matters. It aims to help the new enterprise complete the business opening procedures in half day at the fastest speed and issue the business license free of charge to it.
In terms of handling construction permits, Chongqing will improve the online approval service system, and cut the number of the items needing approval from 135 to 100.
To facilitate the cross-border trade, Chongqing will also pilot the trade declaration reform, reduce the overall customs clearance time at ports, and promote the application of the "advance declaration" model.
It is worth noting that Chongqing's gross domestic product (GDP) expanded by 0.8 percent year on year to 1.12 trillion yuan (about 160 billion U.S. dollars) in the first half of this year.
The measures for improving the local business environment will surely help promote the local economic development and attract more foreign investment, according to the local newspaper. (Edited by Hu Pingchao with Xinhua Silk Road, hupingchao@xinhua.org)
