BEIJING, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- A China-Europe freight train departing from Vienna arrived in a station in Xi'an, capital of northwest China's Shaanxi Province on Tuesday, marking that Austria successfully finished shipping made-in-Austria products to China via the China-Europe freight train for the first time.
The whole journey is about 10,460 km long and takes 16 days. The train loaded with 41 containers of goods worth 1.8 million euros.
Lenzing Group, an Austria-based fibers producer, provided all the sources of the goods for the inbound train, covering fibers and pulp used for textiles.
Friedrich Stift, Ambassador of Austria to China, said that it is the first time for Lenzing Group to transport goods through the China-Europe freight train. Compared with the sea transportation, it can shorten the delivery time by half, which can effectively reduce the factory inventory pressure, cut logistics costs and improve the product competitiveness.
With the continuous resumption of work and production abroad, there is an increasing demand for the goods transportation on the return journeys of the China-Europe freight trains. (Edited by Hu Pingchao, hupingchao@xinhua.org)
