BEIJING, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) -- The 2020 China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT) & Silk Road Investment Congress will kick off on Tuesday in Xiamen, east China's Fujian Province. Exhibitors from over 40 countries and regions including Britain, Germany, Japan and the Republic of Korea will participate in the event, with Philiphines as the guest of honor, local authorities said on Sunday.
The fair takes "boosting investment confidence and promoting win-win cooperation" as its theme. Its pavilions, featuring investment and industry promotion, cover an exhibition area of around 110,000 square meters, introduced Lin Jian, deputy mayor of Xiamen.
During the four-day fair, the 2020 International Investment Forum and 9 parallel forums on the latest global economic development trends within the context of epidemic prevention and control will be held. Nearly 20 various investment promotion activities will also take place during the period.
In the meantime, the fair will work as an efficient platform to promote the investment and cooperation among the countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative.
According to Lin, this year's CIFIT will join hands with Alibaba Group to forge an online platform to provide services including online display, project matchmaking, investment negotiation, forum discussion and cloud signing.
John Paul Inigo, Special Trade Representative of the Philippine Trade and Investment Center, noted that it is a great honor for Philliphines to serve as the guest of honor for two consecutive years. The connectivity between the two countries has strengthened, with bilateral investment and trade further developed.
In 2019, China was Philippines' largest trading partner, the third largest export market, and the largest source of imports, with bilateral trading volume reaching 35.3 billion U.S. dollars. (Edited by Zhang Yuan with Xinhua Silk Road, zhangyuan11@xinhua.org)
