BEIJING, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- East China's Hangzhou, capital city of Zhejiang province, received about 47.13 million visitors in the first half of this year, with tourism revenue reaching 89.86 billion yuan, reported by Hangzhou Daily on Thursday.
With the resumption of trans-provincial tourism and the reopening of movie theaters, China's cultural and tourism industry has started to revive. In the second quarter of this year, Hangzhou's cultural and tourism consumption increased substantially compared to the previous quarter with the number of tourists increasing by 285 percent.
In the first half of 2020, Hangzhou launched a number of measures to help tourism enterprises severely struck by the COVID-19 epidemic to get through business difficulties and promote their work and production resumption, including the free opening of A-level scenic spots and hotel discounts, which benefited 1,272 cultural and tourism enterprises.
At present, 88 percent of travel agencies as well as all star-rated hotels and A-level tourist attractions in the city have already resumed work.
In order to attract tourists, Hangzhou has successively launched a series of activities to encourage local residents to visit their hometown, 100 featured health tourism products and more than 240 cultural tourism measures with 35 million tourists involved.
In the future, Hangzhou will continue to introduce more tourism measures and policies to build a world-class tourist destination and continue to attract investment and tourists, deepen regional cooperation and promote the consumption upgrades, creating a demonstration city of cultural and tourism consumption.
