BEIJING, July 15 (Xinhua) -- Cloud game is likely to become a key 5G application scenario and may reshape the industry as the development of 5G technology has broken through the network bandwidth limits and delay requirements, reported Securities Daily Monday quoting insiders.
With cloud computing technology and streaming media technology, cloud games can be loaded, renderd, and run on cloud servers and the pictures can then be transferred to the user terminals through the network.
Data from Tencent Research Institute show that currently at least 152 firms worldwide have got involved in cloud games, and Google and Microsoft are among the active participants.
Google recently announced to hold a live-streaming event for its cloud game platform Stadia which will focus on showing some games to be put on the platform in the second half of 2020.
Meanwhile, google has also lowered the price of the premium version of Stadia from 120 U.S. dollars to 100 U.S. dollars.
More mature cloud game services are expected to be iterated in the second half of this year with the continuous promotion of operators, believed Everbright Securities based in China's Shanghai.
Many game companies are expected to launch their own cloud game platforms at the China Digital Entertainment Expo and Conference (ChinaJoy) coming soon at the end of July, and cloud games may become the most certain 5G application scenario, according to China Merchants Securities.
