BEIJING, June 12 (Xinhua) -- Beijing is planning to kick off construction on 21 major projects before the end of June in a bid to stabilize economic fundamentals, according to the Beijing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform on Thursday.
Its deputy director Zhang Yanlin said the investment that Beijing has finished by far approached the average level in the previous years, which is better than expected.
Among the total, there are 7 infrastructure projects, 5 people's livelihood improvement projects and 9 high-end industrial ones, involving a total investment of about 108.3 billion yuan.
The 21 major projects mainly cover the following seven areas, including constructing rail transit and railways, Huairou Science City, Beijing Daxing International Airport Economic Zone, people's livelihood improvement project and ecological greenland, easing the traffic congestion in Huilongguan and Tiantongyuan communities, and promoting industrial upgrading in the southern part of the city.
Zhang noted that the 21 major projects boast large investment scale, wide funding sources and strong social influence, which can play an important role in boosting confidence and stabilizing expectations.
In addition, Beijing plans ahead to reserve a batch of major investment projects that can be implemented in the coming three to five years, added Zhang. (Edited by Zhang Yuan with Xinhua Silk Road, zhangyuan11@xinhua.org)
