BEIJING, June 10 (Xinhua) -- China's first deepwater self-operated gas field, Lingshui 17-2 gas field, has successfully completed its first development well construction, marking an important step in the construction of the gas field, according to China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), operator of the project.
It is learned that Lingshui 17-2 gas field is located at the intersection of three major plates on the South China Sea. The first development well completed this time was a horizontal well with an operating water depth of over 1,200 meters and the drilling depth of nearly 4,200 meters.
According to the project's development plan, a total of 11 development wells will be constructed in the Lingshui 17-2 gas field, distributing in seven deepwater well areas with different geological conditions and hydrological conditions.
