TOKYO, June 5 (Xinhua) --Japanese comprehensive motor manufacturer Nidec Corporation is projected to set up a research and development (R&D) base for driving motors used in electric vehicles in China to beef up its presence in Chinese electric vehicle market.
It is said that the R&D center will be put into operation next year, with about a thousand members of technical staff.
Nidec regards China as an important market. The establishment of a R&D base in China is to better grasp the local demand, improve product competitiveness, and expand its market share in the country.
Besides, the company is also scheduled to increase staff numbers at two other existing sites in China in an attempt to further strengthen the company's technical strengths.
Due to the rapid development of China's electric vehicle market, global suppliers are rushing to set up R&D centers in the country.
