BEIJING, May 29 (Xinhua) -- A freight train loaded with 70 TEUs of cargoes including industrial machinery parts, textiles and photovoltaic products left east China's Jiangsu Province on May 26, heading for Hanoi, capital of Vietnam, reported yidaiyilu.gov.cn Wednesday.
This is the first freight train linking Jiangsu and an ASEAN country, and is expected to arrive in Hanoi in five days.
It is noted that a total of 473 freight trains have been arranged from Jiangsu to Europe and Asia in the first four months of the year, posting a 54.5 percent increase year on year.
The freight train services in Jiangsu have played a key role in stabilizing the province's foreign trade amid the COVID-19 pandemic by transporting massive quantities of medical supplies to foreign countries, to help them fight against the epidemic.
By far, cities in Jiangsu, namely, Lianyungang, Suzhou, Nanjing and Xuzhou, have launched the freight train services linking to Asia and Europe, enhancing the construction of international logistic hubs under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
