BEIJING, May 26 (Xinhua) -- Shanghai municipal government issued on Monday guidelines to promote inheritance and innovation of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and coordinated development of TCM with Western medicine.
Under the guidelines, social entities are supported to build characteristic TCM hospitals, and develop Internet-backed TCM services. Key efforts will be laid on nurturing innovative TCM business giants so as to enhance intelligent manufacturing of the industry.
The guidelines call for improving the long-term mechanism for integration of TCM and Western medicine in treating complicated diseases, developing TCM plus Western medicine solutions to the treatment of tumors, endocrine diseases and spine diseases, and building diagnosis and treatment centers featuring the use of TCM and Western medicine for complicated diseases.
The guidelines also specify that Shanghai will support local TCM service trade platforms and enterprises to tap overseas markets by building high-quality TCM centers, international cooperation bases and TCM export service bases abroad. (Edited by Su Dan with Xinhua Silk Road, silviasu07@163.com)
