BEIJING, April 26 (Xinhua) – Erenhot, in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, saw 301,000 tonnes of cargo imported and exported via its hightway port in the first quarter in 2020, up 39 percent year on year, reported yidaiyilu.gov.cn Sunday.
During the same period, bulk commodities imported via the port amounted to 95,000 tonnes, accounting for 90.2 percent of the total imports. The imported goods included 81,000 tonnes of coal products and 13,000 tonnes of iron ore, leading to a sharp rise in the overall freight volume at the port.
The local customs simplified customs clearance procedures for enterprises that import coal and iron ore, and adopted supportive measures to ensure a stable and orderly foreign trade amid the COVID-19 epidemic.
The Erenhot Port is the largest land port on the border between China and Mongolia, which is also a strategic logistic hub along the Eurasian Land-Bridge. (Edited by Jiang Feifan with Xinhua Silk Road, 346129473@qq.com)
