BEIJING, April 23 (Xinhua) -- More than 80 Beijing's time-honored brands have joined the live streaming trend to attract consumers during the novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic, according to a report by The Beijing News.
An live streaming held by Tongheju, a time-honored restaurant in Beijing on Wednesday in attracted 780,000 audience in one hour.
The outbreak of the epidemic dimmed the business of many brands in Beijing, especially those time-honored restaurants. In order to promote sales, they have started to sell products outdoor, launched delivery service, and promote online sales through live streaming, said Ding Jianhua, an official with Beijing Municipal Commerce Bureau.
Data released by Taobao shows that more than 10,000 brands in Beijing including many time-honored brands have held live streaming on its platform, with the live streaming number increasing by 315 percent year-on-year in March.
According to Ding, Beijing Municipal Commerce Bureau will continue to encourage the innovation and transformation of time-honored brands, support the companies to explore new engine of development, and organize professional training to fully integrate with existing sales methods to increase the sales volume and meet the people's spending habits which are continuously changing.
