MILAN, March 20 (Class Editori) -- Medical and health devices will be donated by Silk Road Fund in order to conduct 200,000 detection tests for COVID-19 through the use of 400 kits as well as 20,000 masks. The Chinese government fund, specialized in infrastructures, has acted with the operational support of Autostrade per l’Italia and Pirelli, as well as in collaboration with the Customs Agency in order to allow the entry of the devices in Italy, which are addressed to the Civil Protection and the Lombard Welfare council member.
"In front of this pandemic and during this difficult period we genuinely desire to support one another", the president of the Fund Wang Yanzhi has explained. "We are fully confident about the prospects for Italy. We hope that our donation may contribute to a stronger collaboration between our two countries in order to win the battle against COVID-19, so that people can soon come back to a normal daily life."
The test-kits will be needed to identify the presence of COVID-19 and offer a scientific basis for the diagnosis of confirmed cases and the discharge of healed patients. The mask, instead, is an individual device provided for the health professionals' protection, able to filter at least 95 percent of the particles suspended in the air, including the possible presence of coronavirus.
Chronologically, this donation is only the latest to have arrived from the People's Republic of China. Meanwhile, in the weekend, the first batch of 8 million masks out of the commission of 100 million masks will be expected. This has been organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and yesterday it has been presented by Luigi Di Maio to the Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, the director of Civil Protection, Angelo Borrelli, and to the super-Commissioner for health purchases, Domenica Arcuri.
"We are reacting to save the lives of our compatriots as well as those of our doctors, nurses and health professionals" as the Minister has stated. The entire system of the country is working on it. The Foreign Ministry and the Italian embassy in Beijing are highly active in trying to create the most suitable channels, in order to supply the medical equipment needed to Italy.
In the meantime, on Wednesday March 18, the first ten Chinese doctors and nurses landed in Malpensa to support Italy and Lombardy during the coronavirus emergency. Together with them also 400 thousand masks, ventilators and useful equipment for the health professionals.
