BEIJING, March 12 (Xinhua) -- China's southernmost Hainan Province will formulate plans from the short, medium and long term to revive its tourism industry after the epidemic, according to the National Development and Reform Commission on Wednesday.
"Boasting marine resources and enjoying the policy advantages of pilot free trade zone and free trade port, Hainan is bound to see its tourism industry embrace a promising future in the medium and long term despite the short-term impact exerted by the epidemic," said Tang Xiaoyun, vice president of China Tourism Academy.
With the easing situation of the epidemic, Hainan has lowered the response level from the top level to the third level.
"Hainan can strive to release the travelling demands of its own residents first, and then seek further recovery via parent-child travel programs and customized tours," added Tang.
Hainan has offered visa-free access to tourists from 59 countries, which is a prominent advantage to develop its tourism industry, but it takes time to cultivate the market, added Tang. (Edited by Zhang Yuan, zhangyuan11@xinhua.org)
