CHONGQING, March 3 (Xinhua) – Two state-level new areas in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality and Sichuan Province recently have decided to join hands in opening up and promote shared economic prosperity.
In a video joint conference held recently, Liangjiang New Area in Chongqing and Tianfu New Area in Chengdu, capital of Sichuan Province pledged that they would jointly develop the economies through collaborative planning and policy interaction and work together to build a scientific and technological innovation center in western China.
Joint efforts will also be made to facilitate the opening of western China to the outside world by taking advantage of the geographical position of Liangjiang New Area and the opening-up platform of the Tianfu New Area.
The Liangjiang New Area, formally established on June 18, 2020, covers an overall area of 1,200 square kilometers. It connects the China-Europe freight railway westward, joins in the Yangtze River waterway eastward, and links with the New Land-Sea Corridor southward from Chongqing to Singapore. And the Tianfu New Area, founded on October 2, 2014, has achieved remarkable results in building an open platform and cultivated an environment suitable for opening-up.
The two areas have reached a consensus in the conference to comprehensively strengthen cooperation in transportation by giving full play to their respective advantages in the fields of China-Europe freight train service, aviation hubs, and national logistics hubs.
Wang Zhijie, an official with the Liangjiang New Area, reveals that the two sides will strengthen coordinated industrial development and sharing of innovative resources, and jointly build trillion yuan-level and world-class industrial clusters. (Edited by Jiang Feifan; 346129473@qq.com)
