BEIJING, March 3 (Xinhua) -- Shanghai will formulate policies guiding the development of online sci-tech sectors, aiming to reshape industrial landscape and inject impetus into the high-quality economic development after the novel coronavirus epidemic, revealed an official in charge of the municipality's industrial development Monday.
Zhang Jianming, Vice Director of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization told a press conference that Shanghai will give priority to projects meeting the demands in emerging markets such as unmanned economy, online economy, artificial intelligence (AI)+, blockchain+ and 5G+.
By taking customized policies, the city hopes to take the lead in nurturing leading players in several segments of market, so as to stimulate the launching of a number of projects concerning online technology, industrial Internet, intelligent medical care, ands life and health, according to the official.
Although the epidemic has brought some temporary challenges to the economy, certain emerging economies and industries are ushering in new opportunities for development, Zhang noted.
Online learning and digital entertainment have seen exploding demands in China. Bilibili, a Chinese online video sharing platform, for instance, predicted a 118 percent year on year surge in its revenue in the first quarter of this year.
Amid the epidemic, the development of biomedical industry also accelerates, while application of AI and big data is moving forward at faster pace. (Edited by Su Dan, silviasu07@163.com)
