BEIJING, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) – A China-Europe freight train loaded with 44 standard containers of walnuts products recently left Horgos Port in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region recently, heading for its destination, Mersin Station in Turkey, reported Chinanews.com.
Affected by the COVID-19 outbreak, shipping of the walnuts products, which are mainly made in Kashgar, Khotan, and Aksu in south Xinjiang, has been delayed since the Spring Festival Holiday, the train operator said.
During the epidemic prevention and control period, the local China-Europe freight train operators in Xinjiang are actively coordinating the source of cargoes and ensuring the smooth transportation of goods according to customers' needs.
At present, the local supply of goods and railway transport capacity in Xinjiang are relatively sufficient to ensure regular operation of the freight trains, and the service scale of the trains is expected to expand after the epidemic, forecast by the person in charge at the China Railway Urumqi Group Co., Ltd.
It is noted that the railway authority has organized the freight trains operations accordingly under measures taken to prevent and control the epidemic, such as simplified the customs clearances. (Edited by Jiang Feifan)
