BEIJING, Feb. 18 (Xinhua) -- Local railway department in southwest Chongqing Municipality has recently facilitated freight train service to ensure the efficiency of freight transport during the outbreak of the novel coronavirus pneumonia, reported the local daily of Chongqing Tuesday.
The freight train, loaded with 627.3 tonnes of imported milk powder products from the Netherlands, arrived in Chongqing on February 15 and was directly transited to its destination, Changsha.
The local railway department in Chongqing said that it would continue to expand these high-efficiency logistics to more areas, to support the epidemic prevention and control as well as resumption of work and production for enterprises.
At present, some epidemic prevention and control essentials have arrived in Chongqing through international logistics channels, such as the China-Europe freight trains, and the new land-sea corridors.
Official data shows that Chongqing saw a total of 117 inbound and outbound freight trains in January this year, while China's new western land-sea corridor has carried a total of 57 freight trains during the period. (Edited by Jiang Feifan)
