BEIJING, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) -- As 5G network advances, virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR)-based smart wearable device, represented by VR glasses, is expected to become a new growing area of consumer electronics industry in China, according to analysts.
Featuring high-speed transmission and low latency, 5G can improve the user experience of VR/AR. This makes pan entertainment become the most promising application area of VR, according to data from the National Advertising Research Institute and a marketing company in China.
Specifically, VR videos and films are most popular with the nearly one million frenzy VR users in China, followed by panoramic roaming, panoramic pictures and VR games, showed the data.
Optimistic about these VR-based new entertainment modes, domestic vendors have launched new products, most of which are VR glasses.
At the end of last year, Chinese tech giant Huawei released its first VR glasses series. The new VR glasses are connected to the VR video platforms of Huawei and other famous video websites such as iQIY and Youku, offering users exclusive film-watching experience at home.
Chinese smartphone maker OPPO also launched its first VR glasses last year.
China's VR/AR market continues to expand. It rose 76.5 percent year on year to 8.01 billion yuan (about 1.15 billion U.S. dollars) in 2019, according to CCID consulting, a consulting enterprise under China's Ministry of Industry and Information technology.
The VR/AR market in China will hit 57.6 billion U.S. dollars in 2020, accounting for more than 30 percent of the world, forecast the well-known consulting company IDC. (Edited by Su Dan)
