BEIJING, Feb. 12(Xinhua) --The 306-meter-long Parapeti Bridge undertaken by China Railway Group Limited (CREC) has been opened to traffic since Feb. 7.
The bridge is part of the 160-kilometer El Espino-Charagua-Boyuibe Highway project, a flagship project within the framework of the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
The Completion of the bridge marked 50 percent completed of the highway project, according to the Bolivian Highway Administration (ABC).
The El Espino-Charagua-Boyuibe Highway will directly link the country's eastern departments with each other and with neighboring Paraguay and Argentina.
Bolivian government has listed highway construction as an important aspect of its national development plan. Chinese companies have applied excellent technology to the Bolivian government's livelihood projects, sharing development results with local people, said CREC.
So far, Chinese companies have undertaken 20 highway projects throughout Bolivia with a cumulative length of more than 1,500 kilometers, which can not only improve Bolivia's transportation infrastructure and connectivity in all regions, but also the living standards and economic and social benefits of the people.
