BEIJING, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) -- China's eastern coastal city of Ningbo saw its foreign trade in 2019 stand at 917.03 billion yuan (about 133.69 billion U.S. dollars), an increase of 6.9 percent from the previous year, according to the local customs.
Statistics show that private enterprises and foreign-invested enterprises are major players in Ningbo's foreign trade, with their foreign trade amounting to 619.39 billion yuan and 230.3 billion yuan, respectively. The combined foreign trade of the two types of enterprises accounted for 92.7 percent of the city's total in 2019.
According to an official of the local customs, private enterprises are still the main force of Ningbo's foreign trade, and they have played a significant role in stabilizing the foreign trade.
It is worth mentioning that in 2019, Ningbo's trade with major foreign markets such as the European Union (EU), ASEAN, Japan and the Republic of Korea (ROK) increased, and the growth rate of its trade with countries and regions along the Belt and Road was higher than the overall performance. In 2019, the EU was Ningbo's largest trading partner, with a total trade value of 188.12 billion yuan, said the official. (Edited by Hu Pingchao, hupingchao@xinhua.org)
