JINAN. Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- East China's Shandong Province, the country's main agricultural region, saw foreign trade value of agricultural products topping 230.8 billion yuan (nearly 33.4 billion U.S. dollars) in 2019, up 8.1 percent year on year.
Of the total trade, exports exceeded 123.4 billion yuan in 2019, ranking first in the country, up 7.3 percent year on year, accounting for 22.8 percent of China's total export value of agricultural products, said Zhao Fengjie, deputy head of Jinan Customs.
Shandong also imported over 107 billion yuan of agricultural products, an increase of 9.1 percent over the same period of 2018.
According to customs statistics, Latin America, the European Union and Australia were the main import markets of Shandong's agricultural products, while Japan, ASEAN and the European Union were the main export markets.
In terms of the trade types of agricultural products, grain, aquatic products and cotton were the main imported agricultural products, while aquatic products and vegetables were the main exports.
