BEIJING, Dec. 27 (Xinhua) -- The 14th Changbai Mountain Snow Cultural Tourism Festival and the 2nd Changbai Mountain Powder Snow Festival on Thursday kicked off in northeast China's Jilin Province.

Co-organized by Jilin Changbai Mountain Protection Development Management Committee, Hangzhou Municipal Government of east China's Zhejiang Province and Jilin Province Department of Culture and Tourism, the festivals will last to April 2020.
18 snow and ice-related activities will be held covering cultural tourism promotion, snow sculpture race, snow and ice culture and art show, snowfield football invitational tournament, snowfield marathon, powder snow experience tour and various other fields.

Committed to building the brand of "cold region snow and ice tourism", Changbai Mountain, a well-known tourist destination in southeast Jilin, has made innovations in this year's festivals.
By teaming up with Hangzhou Municipal Government, Changbai Mountain will deeply tap into the Yangtze River Delta tourist market by integrating related tourism resources. While incorporating snow and ice elements into traditional sports events and highlighting local culture, historical accumulation and geographical environment in the 18 activities will help greatly improve the experience of tourists and participants.

Before the opening ceremony of the festivals, Jilin Changbai Mountain Protection Development Management Committee and Hangzhou Municipal Government also co-held a tourism investment promotion conference and a project signing ceremony at which nine projects with an investment of 9.26 billion yuan and five strategic cooperation agreements were inked.
