Beijing's online retail sales increase 27.2 pct in Jan. - Nov.

Abstract : The online retail sales of China’s capital Beijing increased 27.2 percent year on year from January to November, reaching 303.92 billion yuan, as shown the data released by the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Statistics.

BEIJING, Dec. 23 (Xinhua) -- The online retail sales of China's capital Beijing increased 27.2 percent year on year from January to November, reaching 303.92 billion yuan, as shown the data gathered from the city’s wholesale enterprises with annual sales revenue of 20 million yuan and above, and retail enterprises of 5 million yuan and above, by the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Statistics.

By product category, the online retail sales of daily necessities, household appliances and audio-visual equipment, cultural and office supplies, and communication equipment increased by 27.8 percent, 23.4 percent, 15.3 percent and 11.0 percent, respectively. By consumption patterns, the online retail sales of goods reached 1,008.14 billion yuan, up 4.9 percent year on year, and the revenue of catering reached 111.38 billion yuan, up 6.5 percent.

Specially, the Single's Day sales effectively stimulated online consumption. According to the survey released by the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Statistics recently, more than 70 percent of consumers in the city participated in the annual event, but in a way more rational than before. More than half of consumers bought daily-use goods and apparels and shoes.

The data also showed that, the city's total market consumption reached 2,509.22 billion yuan in the first 11 months, marking a year-on-year increase of 7.8 percent. Among them, the service consumption and the total retail sales of social consumer goods reached 1,389.7 billion yuan and 1,119.52 billion yuan respectively, up 10.1 percent and 5.1 percent year on year.
