BEIJING, Dec. 22 (Xinhua) -- A senior Chinese official on Sunday called for implementing the consensus reached at the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (BRF) and upholding multilateralism.
Yang Jiechi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, made the remarks when meeting with the members of the BRF Advisory Council who attended the council's second meeting in Beijing.
Yang, also director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee, called for implementing the consensus reached at the second BRF held in April, building an open world economy, upholding multilateralism, striving for mutually-beneficial cooperation, and working together to build a community with a shared future for humanity.
The members said the Belt and Road Initiative is of global significance and conforms to the trend of multilateralism, and the Advisory Council will continue to contribute to the Belt and Road construction.
