BEIJING, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- The 2019 eSports Shanghai Masters, which was held from November 28 to December 1 in Shanghai, attracted more than 100 top players from China, the Republic of Korea, Japan, Europe, North America, and other countries and regions.
The international esports tournament was hosted by Jing'an District People's Government of Shanghai and Shanghai Sports Federation, and organized by Shanghai eSports Association.
Over the four days, players competed in the four games including Dungeon and Fighter (DNF) F1 World Championships, League of Legends, Warcraft III Reforged and Overwatch. More than 5,000 fans attended the competitions to watch the games, and 30 million visits on online streaming platforms were made by netizens.
An esports forum was also held during the event for experts to discuss the development of the industry.
Jing'an district has been tapping the potential of esports to inject new impetus into economic growth. It has become a famous hub of China's esports industry, accommodating leading enterprises engaged in game development, esports event operation, esports clubs, and other related areas.
