InfoQuest (November 12, 2019) -- A mobile cabinet meeting approved the third phase of the Chim-Shop-Chai (Taste-Shop-Spend) scheme submitted by the Ministry of Finance, said Thai Finance Minister Uttam Sawangnoon. After delivering benefits to a population of 13 million in the first and second phases, the scheme will be open to another 2 million people in the third phase. Starting on November 14, 2019 with 1 million people per day, the registration will be available in two periods, namely 6:00 and 18: 00 as before.
"Our investigations show that the scheme went down very well, and consumers who have not obtained the benefits appealed the government for an extension of the scheme. That's why the government decided to open the third round of registration from November 14," said the finance minister.
Unlike the first two phases, the third phase will no longer give 1,000 Thai baht through G-wallet 1, because the government encourages people to consume with their own money. For spending less than 30,000 Thai baht, 15 percent of the amount will be returned in cash, and for spending between 30,000-50,000 Thai baht, 20 percent of the amount will be returned in cash.
In addition, the relevant conditions have also been adjusted so that people who acquire the benefits can spend in all provinces nationwide, and travel packages, accommodation fees, air ticket fees and related service fees can be qualified for the cash refund, as there were no travel package fees in previous packages.
In addition, 500,000 places will be reserved for the elderly. The Ministry of Finance and the Krung Thai Bank (KTB) will announce the details tomorrow.
