BEIJING, Oct. 29 (Xinhua) -- China's power generation from renewable energy sources rose 11 percent year on year to 1,437.1 billion kilowatt-hours in the first three quarters, according to Li Chuangjun, deputy director of new energy and renewable energy department of the National Energy Administration.
Of the total, hydropower accounted for 893.8 billion kilowatt-hours, showing a year-on-year increase of 7.9 percent, and wind power stood at 291.4 billion kilowatt-hours, up 8.9 percent year on year. Meanwhile, solar power and biomass-fueled power increased 28.1 percent and 19.4 percent year on year to 171.5 billion kilowatt-hours and 80.4 billion kilowatt-hours.
The first three quarters also saw the steady expansion of China's installed capacity of renewable energy, which hit 764 million kilowatts in total by the end of September.
This included 355 million kilowatts of hydropower generation capacity, 198 million kilowatts of wind power generation capacity, 190 million kilowatts of solar power generation capacity and 21.16 million kilowatts of biomass power generation capacity. (Edited by Su Dan)
