NANJING, Oct. 16 (Xinhua) -- The progress in photovoltaic technology and energy storage in the following decade will make solar power the most economic and largest source of electricity supply in the world, said Li Zhenguo, founder and CEO of LONGi Green Energy Technology Co., Ltd., (LONGi Group).
Li made the remarks at the second International Green Energy Development Conference held in Yangzhong, east China's Jiangsu Province on Wednesday.
“Over the last ten years, the progress in photovoltaic technology and the cost reduction in production was beyond imagination,” said Li, and he expected the sustainability issue of photovoltaic power will also be resolved in the following ten years.
During his speech, Li showed a video of LONGi Group's "solar for solar" project, its new business model of producing solar panels on factories run by solar panels plus storage.
The video showed that, in the "solar for solar" model, during the day, solar power is used to ensure factory production; at night, the factory can get electricity through a variety of energy storage systems,with zero carbon emission during the whole process.
