InfoQuest, (October 15, 2019) -- Mr. Chutinun Siriyananda, deputy director-general of the Department of Foreign Trade (DFT) under the Ministry of Commerce (MOC), revealed that the Rules and Guidance for Enterprises or Exporters that Have (May Have) Suffered from Global Trade issued reviously by MOC and taking effect on September 27 was revised.
"The revision of the rules and guidance is to make them more clear-cut, easy to carry out, and more relevant," said Mr. Chutinun.
DFT has revoked the previous notice and issued the new one. The new notice came with some important contents and covered more fields, such as spot check and tracing the costs of origin to prove the Rules of Origin Verification System; regulations for handling cases where exporters have names specified in the certificate but deny; regulations for revoking the certificate of origin of multiple products: only contents about products not meeting the regulations of origin production were revoked, rather than the whole certificate of origin.
The revised notice will help build the confidence of the customs of import countries and destinations on Thailand's origin check on exports and prevent fake origin events overseas; the new notice can also forestall trading partner countries in rolling out or upgrading trade measures, for example, anti-dumping measures against Thai products. Thai exporters can take the chance to grab the market shares of products from countries taking anti-dumping measures to enhance the value and quantity of export.
