MILAN, Aug 23 (Class Editori) - An Italian wine to promote Made in Italy wine in China, where it is pure utopia to expect an in-depth knowledge of the varied excellent territorial denominations of Italy. The union between the wine productions of the two Italian regions of Veneto and Apulia will debut in November, launched by Masi Agricola, chaired by Sandro Boscaini, and Futura, the agricultural holding owned by Bruno Vespa.
The first is an historic company, founded in 1772 under the name of the Boscaini family. Listed on the stock exchange, the company bearing a family soul has come to its seventh generation. Bruno Vespa's company is called Futura 14 and sells under the watchword “Vespa, winemakers for passion”, two Primitivo di Manduria doc: the ‘Rosso di Vespa’ and ‘Raccontami’. Production takes place at the Li Reni farm, 4 km far from Manduria.
As explained in a note, the wine comes from the passion of Boscaini and Vespa for their respective lands, Veneto and Apulia, “two territories having cultural and wine heritage at the same time distant and similar, expressing great uniqueness and personality but synergistic and open.”
The 2016 vintage, produced in 12 thousand bottles and 500 magnum, will be commercially available from November 2019 to completed refinement, on sale at medium-high price.
The idea came to the mind of Bruno Vespa. “When he spoke to me about it the first time I took it as a provocation. Then, as a great opportunity for Italy. Our country has many products with different denominations, but Vino d'Italia is unfortunately intended as a table wine. So, in 2016, we decided to start this new adventure, with the desire to briefly express the excellence of Italian wine,” explained Mr Amarone in conversation with Italia Oggi.
It is a blend between Amarone and Primitivo, born from the union between the two companies. The importance of the project was underlined by the presence of the governor of Veneto Luca Zaia and the governor of Apulia Michele Emiliano, who both agreed that the autonomies of the territories, the authority and the distinguished personalities of the wines, must still leave room for a great overview of the country. Zaia, after having congratulated the winemakers for having accepted this challenge with passion and courage, praised the creators of the project outlining its being “a great intuition. I am sure that this wine will have luck and other wise producers will follow with this concept.” Mr Emiliano also congratulated, remembering the ancient association of the Serenissima in defense of the Apulian coasts.
According to EY, in 2025 China will become the second consumer market in the wine business. In fact, the segment of population classifiable as middle classe will go from 230 million of 2014 to 630 million by 2022. Estimating a percentage of wine consumers equal to half that of the United States (23%), it is expected to have 46 million new consumers in China.
