BEIJING, July 17 (Xinhua) -- The peak load of Tianjin power grid reached a record high of 19.22 million kilowatts on July 11, with overall grid operations remaining stable in north China's Tianjin.
To respond to peak summer electricity demand, State Grid Tianjin Electric Power Company has continued to optimize grid operation, improve emergency response, and ensure the safe, stable operation of the grid and reliable power supply.

This summer, the main pressure on power supply comes from the sharp rise in cooling demand. It is estimated that during peak periods, cooling loads such as air-conditioning account for around 40 percent of Tianjin's total electricity consumption. This year, 174 key projects for summer peak management have been completed and put into operation, which will enhance grid capacity and help ensure stable electricity supply, said Yang Xiaojing, deputy director of the dispatch and control center at State Grid Tianjin Electric Power Company.
Meanwhile, power will be transmitted into Tianjin from regions such as northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Gansu Province, and north China's Shanxi Province during the summer of 2025. So far, total electricity transactions have reached 1.634 billion kilowatt-hours, a year-on-year increase of 329 percent, according to Chang Yadi, director of the trading department at the Tianjin Power Exchange Center.
