InfoQuest (August 15, 2019) -- Speaking at the meeting to unveil policies to the senior officials of the Ministry of Energy, Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak said the global energy situation should be taken into account when drawing up energy development plans. At the current exploit pace, fossil fuels across the world is likely to be run out in less than 20 years. Therefore, it is necessary to seek new alternative energy sources to ensure balanced and stable energy supply and drive Thailand to become a regional energy center on which its neighbors can truly rely, and to introduce policies to help reduce inequality and poverty.

Besides, investment should be made to construct refrigerated storage, and in the gas stations agricultural products sales outlets should be established.
"The PTT should put more money in these fields to build good relations with the people and get rid of the bad impressions," said Mr. Somkid.
"I would also like to see more support to the start-ups from the giants including the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) and the PTT," the deputy prime minister said.
Energy Minister Sonthirat Sonthisajirawong noted that he is going to reveal relevant policies to senior executives of the EGAT and the PTT, especially the measures beyond the policy framework such as those to support start-ups and create added values for agricultural products.
Regarding the granting of oil concession, currently, it is planned complete it in 2022.
"We are expediting the progress to grant the oil concession, for it has been delayed for a long time. I hope it can be settled during my tenure," said Mr. Sonthirat.
