British food delivery service Deliveroo on Monday announced it would be pulling out of the German market and instead focusing on other European countries and the Asia-Pacific region.
Deliveroo said it would be focusing on other markets after revenue doubled in those regions.
The company announced the move four months after its main rival on the German market, Dutch company Takeaway.com, which operates German food delivery service Lieferando, finalized an acquisition deal that added Delivery Hero to its brand.
Deliveroo would be ending its business in Germany on August 16. The company said it had ensured that its drivers, restaurants and employees would receive "appropriate" severance and compensation packages.
Deliveroo was founded in London in 2013 and continues to be active in 13 countries worldwide.
