SHANGHAI, July 30 (Xinhua)—Shanghai has received a total of 97,678 consumer complaints in the first half of this year, up 19.9 percent year on year, according to Shanghai Consumer Council.
The number of e-commerce customer complaints increased dramatically during the period.
Chinese social e-commerce giant Pinduoduo received more than 7, 000 complaints in the first half of this year, drawing the highest number of complaints among e-commerce platforms.
Ning Hai, deputy secretary-general of Shanghai Consumer Council, pointed out that complaints related to shared bicycles, online shopping, “prepaid + consumer loans” and car sales saw rapid growth, while complaints centering on tourism and related services are on a downward trend.
In the January-June period, about 8,609 complaints were involved in shared bicycles, skyrocketing 240 percent year on year.
