CHENGDU, July 29 (Xinhua) -- Heavy downpours unleashed landslides to damage a pivotal railway linking southwest China's Sichuan and Yunnan provinces Monday, local railway authority said.
China Railway Chengdu Group said landslides damaged rail tracks at two sections of the Chengdu-Kunming Railway in Ganluo County, Yi Autonomous Prefecture of Liangshan, Sichuan Province, at about 11 a.m.
Over a dozen trains were forced to return while others were halted, the company said, adding that workers have been busy repairing the damaged tracks.
It has been raining heavily in Sichuan since Sunday, which led to floods and forced evacuations in parts of some cities.
