BEIJING, June 27 (Xinhua) -- New Zealand's kiwifruit giant Zespri is bullish about the Chinese fruit market, and expects its sales in China to double by 2025, representing a quarter of its global sales then, said Paul Jones, deputy chairman of the board of Zespri International Ltd., at the inaugural meeting of the Belt and Road Economic Information Partnership (BREIP) held on Thursday.

BREIP is initiated by Xinhua News Agency and co-founded by more than 30 institutions including well-known news agencies, information service providers, research institutions, chambers of commerce and associations from 26 countries and regions in Asia, Europe, Africa, Latin America and Oceania.

According to the introduction of Jones, after twenty years of development in China, Zespri has grown to be one of the leading fruit brands in the country. Statistics show that last year, Zespri's sales revenue in China was 600 million U.S. dollars, accounting for over 20 percent of the company's total sales.

In the future, Zespri will continue to expand investment, develop innovative products and dig more market space in China, said the deputy chairman.

Jones meanwhile said that Zespri has invested heavily in community projects which aim to bring positive changes in China's health and education sectors, with this year's priority given to children and pregnant women in poor communities. (Edited by Li Wenxin, liwenxin@xinhua.org)
