MILAN, June 14 (Class Editori) -- Chinese travelers aims to be the first in the rank of the tourists travelling by train. According to what reported by China Day in its China Watch channel, this rising trend will allow EU travel agencies to double their incomes. Today, in the EU railway rank, Chinese tourists ranked fourth behind Americans, Australians and South Koreans. Five years ago, they ranked ninth.
Eurail, a group controlled by 35 European railways and maritime companies, founded in 2001, expects that 18 thousand Chinese tourists will use the Eurail pass. A figure that increased compared the one of last year of 16 thousand. That will mean for Eurail an increase in revenue of up to 10%, according to Ding Yi, sales manager for Asia. Chinese consider train travels through picturesque landscapes one of the most charming experience of the European tours.
Therefore, a huge rising is to be expected considering that half of the Chinese tourists will travel independently, that means out of the group organized by travels agencies. Eurail promotes its pass, a railway ticket that allows to take most of the trains in Europe, including also Macedonia, Lithuania and United Kingdom. Basically, it covers 31 countries. There are three kind of pass: Global pass (European) for 168 euros; One country pass (to use in just one country) and Greek Island Pass for the Greek islands.
