SHANGHAI, June 12 (Xinhua) – The Global Fashion Industry Index-Fashion Week Vitality Index (2018)compiled by China Economic Information Service (CEIS) of Xinhua News Agency is expected to be released in late June.
On an expert meeting for reviewing the index held in Shanghai on June 11, experts held that the index objectively reflected the development of global fashion weeks and embodied the progress of the Asian fashion industry.
The index system gives a comprehensive score to the top 10 well-known fashion weeks in the world and builds an assessment model consisting of 3 Level-I indexes, including the "media communication", the "business area radiation", and the "aggregation degree of elements", and 10 Level-II indexes.
In recent years, Chinese fashion weeks have maximized their advantage as a latecomer and have gained fruitful results in multiple fields, contributing "Chinese wisdom" to the global fashion industry development, said Bian Xiangyang, vice chairman of China Fashion Association on the review meeting.
Fashion weeks provide an excellent performance stage for the domestic fashion industry, noted Wang Huimin, a senior researcher with Institute of Applied Economics, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, adding that China will spare no efforts to explore the function of fashion weeks as a fashion landmark and an industrial platform, and push forward the rapid and healthy development of the whole industry chain.
Gao Qian, an official with the Development Research Center of Shanghai Municipal People's Government, pointed out that China's major fashion weeks, starting out by passively following foreign fashion weeks, now have gradually become a leading force in promoting the international fashion industry development and fully reflected China's robust domestic demand.
The Global Fashion Industry Index-Fashion Week Vitality Index Report was released by CEIS for the first time in 2018 and has gained recognition of the whole fashion industry.
