BEIJING, May 22 (Xinhua) -- The output of integrated circuit industry is expected to exceed 100 billion yuan in Nanjing Jiangbei New Area by 2020, said Luo Qun, deputy secretary of the Party working committee of the area, at the 2019 World Semiconductor Conference held recently in East China's Nanjing city.
In recent years, Jiangbei New Area has actively introduced favorable policies for semiconductor industry development with integrated circuit as a core, said Luo. As a result, more than 200 integrated circuit companies from all over the world have settled in the new area, covering the entire industry chain of chip design, wafer fabrication, packaging and testing, as well as terminal manufacturing.
Luo added that as a city rich of talents, Nanjing has great advantage to promote integrated circuit industry. To further facilitate the integration of industry, university and researchers, Jiangbei New Area is speeding up the construction of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) protection system.
Established in June 2015, Jiangbei New Area is the 13th national new area approved by the Chinese government. It has now a population of 2.55 million and registered a GDP of 250 billion yuan, according to the introduction. (Edited by Li Wenxin, liwenxin@xinhua.org)
