BEIJING, May 21 (Xinhua) -- Henan's trade with members of Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) rose 9.3 percent year on year to 16.05 billion yuan in the first four months of this year, according to data recently released by the Zhengzhou Customs District of China.
With implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative and construction of China-ASEAN Free Trade Area, the inland Henan's economic and trade ties with ASEAN is becoming closer.
Data showed that Henan's exports to ASEAN countries from January to April reached 8.91 billion yuan, up 7.9 percent year on year, while its imports from ASEAN countries totaled 7.14 billion yuan, up 11.3 percent.
Specially, private enterprises in Henan stood out by contributing to 51.5 percent of the province's total trade with ASEAN countries.
Among the ten member of ASEAN, Vietnam is the largest trade partner of Henan in terms of import and export volume in the first four months, accounting for 42.4 percent of the province's total trade with the ten economies, according to the customs authority.
Mechanical and electronic products are the major commodities traded between Henan and ASEAN countries.
In addition, Henan's total trade with Africa jumped up 40 percent to 6.85 billion yuan in the first four months of this year, according to the Zhengzhou Customs District. (Edited by Su Dan)
