BEIJING, May 21 (Xinhua) – The World Semiconductor Conference 2019 wrapped up on Sunday in Nanjing, capital city of east China’s Jiangsu province.
The three day event, focusing on the development status and the trend of the global integrated circuit (IC) industry, cutting-edge technologies and key applications as well as innovation cases and the research and development of products, gathered about 1,400 representatives from both home and abroad to pool ideas for exchange and cooperation.
The conference attracted nearly 200 exhibitors from the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, the Republic of Korea, Belgium and other countries and regions to showcase the latest technologies and product applications of the global IC industry.
In China, the IC industry has developed into a national strategic, fundamental and forerunner industry. After decades of development, China is witnessing the world's fastest growth in IC industry, with the largest market demand and the most active international trade.
Lan Shaomin, Mayor of Nanjing, said at the main forum of the conference that as an important IC industry cluster area in the country, Jiangsu saw its IC industry scale approach one-third of the country's total.
He also noted that Nanjing, as a major industrial development center in Jiangsu, has ramped up its efforts to build itself into the country’s IC industry landmark with global influence.
Lan expressed his hope that the conference is able to establish an international and professional exchange and cooperation platform to promote the healthy and orderly development of the global semiconductor industry and help Nanjing’s semiconductor industry to achieve higher quality development.
As a state-level new district in Jiangsu province, Jiangbei New Area has been advancing the gathering of global high-end elements and resources, and attracted more than 200 world-renowned IC firms to settle in the district.
Jiangbei New Area boasts unique industrial development advantages and a broad development prospect, said Luo Qun, Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee of Jiangbei New area, adding that Jiangbei New Area is actively pushing forward the development of a chip city to form a 100 billion-level IC industrial cluster.
By 2020, Jiangbei New Area is expected to bring over 300 IC enterprises to settle in and its output value of the IC industry will exceed 100 billion yuan. (Edited by Yang Yifan, yangyifan@xinhua.org)
