BEIJING, May 13 (Xinhua) -- Revenue of China's electronic information manufacturing industry rose 6.3 percent year on year in the first quarter of 2019, official data showed.
The sector registered a 7-percent slump in profits as the operating costs gained 6.2 percent year on year during the period, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
Fixed asset investment of the industry saw a 5.5-percent increase from a year earlier, reversing the downward trend in the first two months.
In breakdown, profits of communications equipment manufacturers climbed 4.9 percent and that of computer manufacturers recorded a 51.7-percent growth, the ministry said.
MIIT data also showed China's mobile phone output shrank by 14.7 percent year on year in the first quarter.
During the same period, production of laptops dipped 3 percent year on year while that of tablet computers surged 19.1 percent.
