Lombardia region, 6.5 million euro for attracting Asian tourists

April 26, 2019

Abstract : The government of the Lombardia region allocated 6.5 million euro to tourism promotion, focusing on attracting tourists from Asia.

MILAN, Apr 22 (Class Editori) -- The government of the Lombardia region allocated 6.5 million euro to tourism promotion, focusing on attracting tourists from Asia. "It is an important measure, guiding us in investing in a fundamental segment of our economy – the touristic one," said Laura Magoni, regional tourism commissioner, talking about the new resolution included in the yearly planning for tourism promotion and attraction.

The plan covers a few strategic areas of intervention, first of all the promotion of the territory's distinctive features. The aim is to have the reality of the Lombardia region known not only in Europe – in particular in Germany, Austria, the UK, Russia, France, Spain, Poland, and Scandinavia – but also everywhere in the world, focusing on Japan, Israel, the Arab Emirates, China, Australia, and the US.

"Starting from supporting businesses active in tourism, all the way up to promoting the region's distinctive features and thus Lombardia as a destination of choice, the plan aims to boost the available services and the quality of the offer. The goal is to have Lombardia become first among all touristic destinations in Italy," added Mangoni.

President Attilio Fontana and commissioner Laura Magoni bet on fashion and design as the driving forces, hoping they will get them their result and will work to "strengthen the region's specific values related to tourism, contributing to boost the incoming flows," as it is explained in one of the regional government’s annotations. Financial support will come out of EU funds (POR FESR 2014-2020 resources – Axis IIII), allocated to enhance the offer and to innovate the reception and food industries.
