BEIJING, March 29 (Xinhua) -- China will open an artificial intelligence (AI) cloud based cervical cancer diagnosis platform to the world as of April to facilitate the cervical cancer screening worldwide, according to the press conference jointly held by Maternal and Child Health Care of China Association and Landing AI Cytological Diagnostic Research Center of Wuhan University on Thursday.
With the opening of the platform, women from all over the world, especially from countries along the Belt and Road, are expected to have access to high-quality and low-cost cervical cancer screening service, said Professor Sun Xiaorong, chief scientist of Landing AI Cytological Diagnostic Research Center, adding that the platform will focus on the cooperation with countries along the Belt and Road.
“The purpose of opening such a platform is to create an intelligent, digital and standard network for cervical cancer screening worldwide,” Sun said.
According to Sun, the platform will be open to large-scale cervical cancer screening programs, as well as doctors and researchers working on cervical cancer prevention and treatment from countries around the world. Cytologists and experts from different places can cooperate without borders and national boundaries, carry out cervical cancer prevention and treatment efficiently, share cervical cancer diagnosis experience and promote screening efficiency and diagnosis level.
Landing AI Cytological Diagnostic Research Center of Wuhan University, developer of the artificial intelligence (AI) cloud based cervical cancer diagnosis technology, owned core intellectual property right of the technology. "Landing will open its AI technology, AI diagnosis standards and cellular pathological data of Chinese IP rights to the world," said Sun.
Zhao Baige, Chairwoman of Expert Committee of Belt and Road Initiative International Think Tank and RDI, pointed out that China’s AI cloud based diagnosis technology for cervical cancer will provide strong support and guarantee for more countries to carry out early-stage cervical cancer screening.
At present, the Landing AI cloud based diagnosis technology for cervical cancer screening is applied in Malaysia and Indonesia.
