BEIJING, March 26 (Xinhua) -- Smart manufacturing points the way for development, said Miao Wei, Minister of of Industry and Information Technology, noting that China would actively develop new emerging industries such as new energy vehicles (NEVs), new materials and artificial intelligence (AI) while cultivate advanced manufacturing industry clusters.
Manufacturing industry plays a crucial role in China as well as world economy and its high quality development is set as one of the main tasks this year, the minister was quoted by Shanghai Securities News as saying on the China Development Forum 2019 on Monday.
With such a mission in mind, China should strengthen technological innovation, accelerate structural optimization and upgrading of the manufacturing sector while promote the integrated development between modern manufacturing and modern service industries and in the same time create environment conductive to high quality development, Miao said.
